Starbucks Fall Cups

So Starbucks has these plain but colorful cups with a white circle on the front right now.  They are their "Fall Cups" and people have been drawing on them.  Some are simple,  some are more detailed.  If you search #FallCups on Instagram you can find quite a few.  The first one I got I was clueless and my coffee sleeve glue stuck to and tore the white circle.  After figuring it out though I went to Starbucks on National Coffee Day ☕️. I got myself a tall coffee and asked for a clean cup too so the nice barista gave me a grande cup so I would have 2 different colors.  I thought and thought during the day what to draw and that night I came up with the idea of a scarecrow in a corn field in front of a full moon.  I used 2 different hardnesses of pencil,  a black colored pencil,  a black fine tip felt tip pen and a white gel pen.  The colored part of the cup was a little waxy so the pen didn't work as well there but the pencils worked great.  I love the white highlights. I still have the other cup and trying to decide if I want to do another fall theme or jump ahead to winter.  I am leaning toward  winter and have an idea.  I will post or update this post when I finish it.
Hey wouldn't it be great to have 4 cups with all 4 seasons?

Nightmare before Christmas

So after making my last 2 Star Wars stockings for my Nephew and future Great Nephew I though my Nephew's wife needed a stocking too.  So as a surprise to her I decided to make her one and send it to her with the other ones.  She loves The Nightmare Before Christmas so again not finding a pattern I liked I had to create my own.
I decided to use a different pattern on the cuff that was a bit of a scallop look,  it looked great but when it came time for the name I tried and tried but it just didn't work. I created the image as an applique. The writing was finally after 3 days added too.  Not my favorite writing but I wanted it to be on there somewhere and it doesn't look bad there.
I created a pointy,  curly toe to go along with the theme. Then I hung Christmas lights on the moon.  All in all I was pleased with the outcome and she loved it too.

Star Wars Stockings

So my nephew and his wife are having their second baby.  For their first as for many of the babies in our family I made her a Christmas stocking. A tradition that was started by Grandma Jean my Uncles Mom who has now passed away but always made such beautiful knit stockings for the babies in our family.  I wanted to carry on that tradition,  I knit and crochet and even have one of her patterns. So anyway when we got the news they were having a boy and deciding to do a Star Wars theme I started to think about a Star Wars stocking.  They loved the idea.
My nephew's wife said to do either BB8 or R2D2 but then she said; "You know after you do one for the baby you will have to do one for Sam too?" (My nephew) Well I never made Sam one because he was almost a teenager when I met my husband so I guess it is about time to make him one.  So I decided to do BB8 for the baby since he is from the newer released movies and R2D2 for Sam since he would be the one he grew up watching.
I had a delema though,  there was no pattern out there for a stocking like either of these which meant I had to make my own. After a while I thought I had ones I liked and went to work.... I think they came out pretty good and they LOVE them.

Construction Crochet

My husbands cousin has 3 beautiful blond haired girls and is about to have identical twin boys. Of course I wanted to crochet something for them,  but what? Well their daddy does construction work,  asphalt specifically so what else should I do but crochet little construction outfits for the babies.  Now for the pattern???  I couldn't find one so what do I do now?  I create my own of course.  I made a basic baby hat in yellow,   added a bill,  made an hour glass shapped piece I stitched on after.  Then I found a striped vest patteren that I made solid orange and then made yellow stripes and stiched them on.  I also found a basic diaper cover pattern and made it in a denim blue and added white stitching around the edges and finished it off with pretty silver buttons that looked like ones that you would find on a pair of jeans. As a joke we printed my husbands buisness logo and added it to the back of the vests when we sent them.  I am really happy with how they came out.
